New Automobile Project for West Bengal
A Chinese firm is ready to set up an automobile joint venture in West Bengal. The Chinese company, First Automobile Works Ltd, is likely to invest in West Bengal along with an Indo-Russian JV, Ural India Ltd. Ural India is a joint venture between Uralaz of Russia and Kolkata based Mitijug group. The JV plans to launch passenger vehicles in India such as heavy duty and high performance trucks. Ural India is ready to team up with First Automobile Works for its passenger vehicle projects.

On the other hand, the West Bengal Chief Minister has already announced that the state government is will be announcing a new project for Singur shortly. ?We will let you know when we make a firm decision,? he said. He also added that the State government had several proposals on hand and stated that ?The Tatas will return the land whenever we ask them to do so.?

Tata Motors had pulled out of the State of West Bengal last month amidst growing dispute and protests from the aggrieved farmers who protested that the land has been forcefully acquired from them. The farmers had been asking the company and the state government to return the land itself and did not seek any compensation. After stopping to the production for the world?s cheapest car, Tata Motors finally moved their project to Sanand in Gujarat.
