Bajaj Auto for the month ended September 08 reported an increase of 6% (in total), in the two and three wheelers sales.

The company sold 217,365 units of Motorcycles in Sep`08 as compared to 204,152 units a year earlier, a growth of 6%. The two wheelers sales stood at 218,494 units in September against 206,208 in the previous year for the same month.

The sales of three wheelers increased by 2% to 26,887 units in Sep`08 as against 26,288 units in Sep`07.

Exports rose substantially by 43% to 68,572 units in Sep`08 as against 48,048 units in the same month previous year.

The Bajaj 125cc DTS-Si platform consisting of the XCD 125 DTS-Si and the Platina 125 DTS-Si clocked 39,955 units with the Platina 125 DTS-Si contributing 11,991 units in its first month of launch.

Bajaj expects to meet its target of 75,000 units/ month from this platform once the 4th motorcycle is launched in the next quarter, thereby strengthening Bajaj`s almost 50% market share amongst the 125cc plus motorcycles.

The company said that the exports remained strong but growth in commercial vehicles was slow.
