M&M in talks with Italian major Malaguti Moto
The utility and tractor major, Mahindra & Mahindra, which recently picked up Kinetic`s two-wheeler business for Rs 1.2 billion, is in talks with Italian motorcycle and scooter maker Malaguti Moto for a possible takeover, reports Economic Times.

The family-owned Malaguti has strong connections with Ducati - just a couple of months ago its Phantom F12R became the Ducati Corse Superbike under arrangement with Ducati. Part of the famed Italian two-wheeler brigade that included Aprilia, Beta Benelli, Italjet and Piaggio, Malaguti has some top-end products in the 250cc range which could be of interest to M&M for its moto foray.

M&M is also in talks with several Chinese players for kit and component sourcing arrangements. Among those it has been talking to is Loncin, the second largest motorcycle maker in China with an annual production base of a million bikes.

M&M will use its Kinetic portfolio, including the products, plant, vendor base and global partnerships, as the starting point. It will add to this range through new global alliances with European or American brands at the top-end and Chinese sourced products for the middle and bottom end.
