Federal Mogul to build new India components plant
MUMBAI: US auto parts maker Federal-Mogul Corp is building a new facility in Chennai to make friction components from September 2009, it said in a statement late on Thursday.

The plant will make brake and friction components for light vehicles, commercial vehicles and railways for the local market as well as export, it said, but did not disclose financial details. Federal Mogul -- which makes pistons, spark plugs, bearings and other automotive parts -- already has six facilities in India, and generates more than 60 per cent of its revenue outside North America.

The Chennai facility will create about 500 jobs, it said. Federal-Mogul's wholly owned Indian subsidiary recently signed a memorandum of understanding for 10 acres of land for the facility.
