Mulsanne: Bentley's passion comes to India; to hit roads by October
NEW DELHI: British luxury car maker Bentley Saturday unveiled its new model Mulsanne priced at Rs.2.9 crore (approx $638,000) and said it would hit the Indian market by October.

"We have debuted this car in the Indian market for Bentley car connoisseurs. India has a very strong and vibrant economy. We are very hopeful about the future prospects of our business here," said Chris Buxton, regional director, Bentley (India, Middle-East and Africa).

Mulsanne is a super luxury car which is customised according to the user's needs. The car has a 6.8-litre twin turbo V8 engine, which can produce 512 bhp with 1,020 Nm torque.

According to Buxton, it takes almost 650 hours to make a Bentley super-luxury car and it is "truly handmade".

Bentley has already unveiled this model in the global market. "US is our biggest market. We have already unveiled our new model there and in Europe. After here, we will unveil it in few more Asian countries, including China."

Buxton said Bentley had sold around 5,000 cars globally last year.

"Our sales in India is between 25 and 30 cars only. But there is a huge potential and we expect our sales to go-up," he said.

The China market, he added, is almost 10 times bigger for Bentley than India.
